I guess I don't really need to talk about this movie because everyone is already praising the hell out of it. I feel like I should give my own thoughts on it though because I think people should hear some different views on it. I am not saying I didn't like it because I did think it was good and really well done, but I think some people might be praising it a little too much and that could end up making it overrated. At least that is how I felt when I first saw it. Now the idea of someone having to be super quite because there hiding from something has been done in other movies before like Don't Breath. However, I do like how it takes up a notch by having it affect the characters every day lives, which is a nice touch. Also, I don't really think it is a horror movie, even though it has horror elements, I saw it more as a thriller. It focuses on building up suspense more than scaring the audience, which might disappoint some horror fans.

But with that said it is very good at building suspense. Because it is mostly done in silence, everything the characters or every sound that is made puts you on the edge of your seat because you know something bad is going to happen. All the actors do a great job at making the suspense and danger look real, given that they all do it without talking. Also, you don't see the monsters that much until later in the movie, which adds to the suspense.

I think all the hype people have been giving this movie as a great horror movie can give people the wrong idea and not appreciate for the good thriller it is. So if you like thrillers with a supernatural element than I would say go see it, just don't expect any jump scares.
