For my first review of a new movie I'm going to talk about a sequel to a movie that I'm sure people are going to hate immediately because it doesn't have the same director; Pacific Rim: Uprising. I had mixed feelings when I heard that they were making a sequel to Pacific Rim because on the one hand I thought it looked cool and there was a lot more that could be done with that premise, but on the other hand I wasn't sure if it would be as good as the first one seeing how Guillermo del Torro wasn't directing this time. Also, I was worried it would end up being like the Transformers sequels where they just devolve into mindless action. So when I saw it I didn't have high hopes, however, I actually thought it was just as good as the first one.
Like I had thought it was a little more focused on action than the first one was, but thats pretty much all I came to see; giant robots fighting giant monsters. I just enjoyed the first movie as a fun action movie and this one is pretty much the same, and because it is more focused on action I thought that was even better. I also liked how they try new things like having the robots fight each other. But it doesn't focus too much on the action that the story is just nonsense and actually has a decent enough plot. With that said the characters are kind of bland, even the returning characters aren't that great, and it starts off kind of rushed at the beginning with an opening that looked more like the trailer. Also, they try to trick you with the twist by making you think what it's going to be and for me it was pretty obvious.
For me, while the story and character might not be on par with the original, this was still a fun sequel to a fun action movie that gave me what I wanted. If you liked the first one or just like giant monsters fighting giant robots then I would say check it out.

That was very informative
