It seems that people have become devices with the recent Star Wars movies. Some people like them just because they are Star Wars movies, while others are saying that they are ruining the franchise. So I wasn't too surprised when Solo: A Star Wars Story didn't do that well at the box office opening weekend. This seemed to be a Star Wars spin-off that fans surprisingly wanted the least. Though I really don't get why. Also, i don't think it help that it came out the weekend after Deadpool 2 premiered. So when I saw it i went in just expecting a fun Star Wars movie, and that's exactly what I got.

I find it weird how that it seems like no one wanted this movie to be made. It's an origin story to the best character in the original trilogy that didn't get one in the prequels. Though after watching it I kind of see why. The story is pretty much just that, it shows Han Solo as a young man, how he met Chewbacca and Lando, and how he became captain of the Millenium Falcoln. It's mostly full of nods to the original mixed with fun action scenes, and while it's good it doesn't really amount to anything. It didn't really add anything new to the original characters or revealed anything shocking that changes our perception of them.

However, even though it didn't feel needed, it ended up being a fun movie. It still has a lot of fun action and enjoyable characters. The actors do a good job of playing the younger versions of the characters, keeping faithful to the original but still making it their own. Even the supporting cast help make the story engaging. It is not the best Star Wars movie but it still has a lot of the charm you would expect from the space fantasy. If you are a Star Wars fan or just want to see a good space action movie than I say check it out.
